An meteorological club (Met club) had been established on the premises of Kasim Bazar High School under Kapasia union of Sundarganjupazila in the district on Wednesday.

The club was established in cooperation with German Federal Foreign Office and in technical support of RIMES   and  in overall  cooperation of Save the Children under  GFFO Multihazard Anticipatory Action Initiatives Project being implemented by SKS Foundation, a local non-government organization.

In this regard, an inaugural session was also heldatnoon with head teacher of the school NurulHaqueSarker in the chair.

Mostafizur Rahman, Meteorologist of Rangpur MET office attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest and district relief and rehabilitation officer Md. Shafiqul Islam spoke at the event as the special guest while project officer Ranjitkumarpaul moderated the session.

The chief guest in his speeches said the main theme of the club establishment was learn something new side by side with academic studying to remain safe in disaster.

If the students of the school could know the early signs  about disaster  from the club, the amount of loss of life  and properties would reduce significantly, he also said.

He also sought whole hearted cooperation of all concerned to make the club fully functional always so that it could play role for the people of disaster prone areas in case of providing early or advance signs about disaster.

A part from it, the invited persons and the students, local elite also addressed the function among others.

At last, the chief guest formally inaugurated the club through the active participation of the students and teachers and local elite.

NurulHaqueSarker, head teacher of the school,  inhis speeches expressed his gratefulness to the foundation for setting the club for the students of disaster prone areas to help them save from disaster through providing them with early sign of disaster.
