International Women Day-2026 was observed at Santal settlement area of the district here on Sunday with a call to remove their double discrimination.

Marking the day, Abolamban, a voluntary organization of the district chalked out the elaborate programmes with the participation of girls, adolescent and women of the Santal Community in cooperation with ManusherJonno Foundation.

In the morning, a colorful rally was brought out at Katabari area union under Gobindaganjupazila in the district.speaking on the occasion, the women leaders of Santal community here said they are being victimized to double discrimination- one is as women and other is as tribal women in the society.

In this context, the y demanded of the government to take necessary measures  to remove their discrimination from the society in a bid to build tribal women friendly society.

A large number of Santal women, girls, adolescent took part in the rally carrying placards and festoons inscribed with their demands.
