A child aged 15 months was drowned at Roumari upazila in Kurigram district in the morning on Tuesday (December 06).

The deceased was identified as Shawn Miah son of Sadhin Miah of village Horindhara Uttarpara under Dantbhanga union of the upazila.

Residential Medical Officer of Roumari upazila Health Complex Dr. Jahangir Alam said the child was brought to the heal complex as dead. The child drowned in a pond near his house, it was learnt. Later his dead body was floated. He died on the spot.

Officer-in-charge of Roumari police station Rup Kumar Sarkar said it is learnt that the child was drowned in the pond. However,an unnatural death case was lodged with Roumari thana.
