Two cousins were drowned in a pond at Baleadangi area under RajibpurSadarupazila in Kurigram district at 6.00pm on Saturday (November 26).They were buried in the morning on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Arafat 13 son of Saifuddin of village Mancharchar under Roumariupazila and another Ridon 03 son of Jahidul Islam of village Baraidangi under Rajibpurupazila.

Local sources said both Rafat and Ridon were catching fish with hook in the pond near their house. At one stage they slipped and fell into the pond without sensing of others.They were searched here and there but failed. At last locals found that their shoes were floating in water of the pond. Their bodies were recovered from the pond and immediately taken to RajibpurUpazila Health Complex where the attending doctor Abdus Salam declared them dead.

The grandfather of the deceased two boys Abu Bakar and FazlulHaque are siblings. The two boys were learning their lessons living in their respective grandfather’s house.

They were buried in the morning on Sunday, head teacher of RajibpurGivt. High School AlhajAzim Uddin said.

Member of Rajibpur union ParishadAnowar Hossain said a pathetic shock was prevailing in the area following the incident.

Officer-in-charge of Rajibpur police station Mozaharul Islam admitted the incident and told that no complain was received from their families caused the two bodies were handed over to them. A UD case has been lodged.
