An old man died in a head-on collision between auto-van and trolley in Dhunat Upazila of Bogura on Tuesday.
The deceased is identified as Dudu Sarkar (80) son of Sejab Sarkar of Bhandarbari village of the upazila. The incident took place at Raghunathpur Geda bus stand area of Bhandarbari union of the upazila at 10 am on Tuesday.
Former Chairman of Bhandarbari Union Parishad Atiqul Karim Appel said, his cousin Dudu Sarkar left for Gosaibari market from Bhandarbari by auto-van at around 10 am on Tuesday morning. On the way, when reaching Raghunathpur Geda bus stand area, the auto-van collided head on with the trolley coming from the front.
Meanwhile, Dudu Sarkar fell from the auto-van and fell under the wheels of the trolley and got seriously injured. Later he was rescued and first brought to Dhunat Upazila Health Complex. Dudu Sarkar died on the way to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital as his condition was alarming.
Police inspector Monirul Islam said that after receiving the news, the auto-van and trolley were seized after visiting the scene. Dudu Sarkar’s body was handed over to his family after legal proceedings.
