Sufficient sacrificial animals are available in Kurigram district for the upcoming Eid-ul Azha in this year as the farmers are now busy fattening their cows in normal process feeding them straw, nutritious grasses and others.

According to District Livestock official sources a total of 330486 sacrificial animals have been prepared in the district while the demand of the district is 222840. After meeting the local demand some 107646 cows are surplus which will be taken to other parts in the country including Dhaka city for sale. There are 20743 small and big farms in all the nine upazilas in the district. Cows are being fattened in these farms in natural method without any harmful drugs, several farmers said.

Kurigram District Livestock Officer (DLO) Dr. Habibur Rahman told this correspondent that a total of 330486 sacrificial animal including 80868 oxes, 5143 Bullocks, 28848 cows, 1601 Buffalos, 185092 goats and 28848 rams have been prepares for the upcoming Eid-ul Azha.
