In this case, the determination of qualifications through written tests is often not in line with reality. As a result, experienced and skilled people associated with this profession for a long time are at risk of being deprived of fair opportunities.
They also said that the neglected, backward and untouchable Harijan community associated with the cleaning profession for centuries is still bearing the burden of social and economic discrimination. For them, the post of cleaner is not only just a job, but also one of the means of livelihood with the right to live and dignity.
In the interest of ensuring human perspective and social justice, they demanded that the written test be relaxed in the recruitment of cleaners and that appointments be made on the basis of practical tests and skills.
In addition, the speakers called for ensuring at least 80 percent reservation for the Harijan community associated with the cleaning profession through heredity and giving utmost importance to transparency, humanity and social reality in the recruitment process.
