A youth was committed suicide by hanging himself writing a note in the Ganakpara area adjacent to Sluicegate Bazar in Daldaliya Union of UlipurUpazila of Kurigramon Saturday (February 21).
The deceased was identified as Abu Kalam (18), son of Mohammad Golzar Ali of that area.
According to family sources, his mother went to call her son to take Sehriin the ongoing month of Ramadan at midnight on Saturday (February 21). Despite calling him several times, the family members became worried. Later, hearing the screams, local people rushed to the spot. They broke the door of the house and entered and found that Abu Kalam’s body was hanging.
Hearing the news the police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. A note was seized from his bedroom.
Abu Kalam wrote, “Dear family, I am very lucky to have a family like you. But I think you are not happy at all to have a son like me. Because I am unemployed. I have only eaten you all my life, I have never been able to feed you. Please forgive me. Pray for me. I also pray that no family should be born a son like me.”
The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the area. The atmosphere has become heavy with the tears of relatives.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ulipur Police Station Saeed Ibne Siddique said that a note has been recovered from the scene. The body has been sent to Kurigram Morgue for autopsy. A UD case has been filed at the police station in this incident.
Police said that further legal action will be taken after receiving the autopsy report.
