On Saturday (December 7), a day-long special workshop, PolicyCampX, was organized by the Dinajpur Community, with 23 young representatives participating. The primary objective of this event was to discuss the active role of youth in the context of Bangladesh’s current social, political, and economic scenarios and their potential to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The event was conducted by Md. Raijul Islam, a fourth-year student of the Economics Department at HSTU and the Coordinator of Youth for Policy, Dinajpur District Committee, along with Sumaiya Binte Mahbub Atoshi, a master’s student from the same department. This initiative received widespread appreciation from the participants. Such workshops raise awareness among the youth about their responsibilities and encourage them to take an active role in problem-solving.

The workshop covered topics like youth policy, social inequality, public administration reform, transparency in the electoral process, and ways to realize the dream of a discrimination-free Bangladesh. The speakers identified current challenges in Bangladesh and emphasized innovative solutions from the youth to address these issues. These discussions will later be presented to policy experts at the Youth Summit organized by IID’s Youth for Policy on December 21-22.

Professor Dr. Rozina Yasmin Lucky, Dean of the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), attended the event. She provided valuable guidance to the youth on their roles in nation-building and their constitutional rights and responsibilities.

The youth of Dinajpur participated enthusiastically in the workshop. Many of them shared their experiences and thoughts. According to them, they wish to directly engage in issues such as improving the quality of education, protecting the environment, and creating employment opportunities at the local level.

Regarding achieving the SDGs, the speakers noted that sustainable development requires collective efforts from all sections of society. The positive mindset, leadership qualities, and technological skills of the youth can play a significant role in achieving these goals.

Through PolicyCampX, the youth of Dinajpur gained a platform to voice their opinions and participate in policymaking processes. Attendees expressed hope that such initiatives will play a crucial role in establishing a sustainable and equitable society at the national level in the future.
