A young man named Zahurul Islam Taleb (28) has been arrested for forcibly raping a 40-year-old speech-impaired woman in  Sherpur upazila of Bogrua district.

On Friday (October 1) afternoon, a case was filed against the arrested under the Women and Child Repression  Act and he was sent to jail through a court in Bogura

 The arrested is Jahrul Islam Islam Taleb, son of Sohrab Sheikh of Uttarpara village of Mirzapur union of the upazila.

 According to the case, Zahurul Islam Taleb, a worker of a private company in Belgari village of Bhabanipur union of the upazila, grabbed the disabled woman around 2pm on Thursday (October 1).  He even took her to an abandoned godown of the company and raped her.  At one stage, two or three people from the village saw the incident on the way to the road adjacent to the godown.  Later, rapist Zahurul Islam Taleb was caught hand to hand and called 999.  After informing the Sherpur police about the matter, Zahurul Islam was handed over to the police when the police came to the spot.

Sherpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam said Al Amin, son of Haider Ali of Belgari village, had filed a case with the police station. The arrested person was later sent to jail through the court. He also said that the speechless woman was sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura for Medical Exam.
