Rajshahi University (RU) celebrated World Veterinary Day on Saturday at the university campus with various festivals. The program was jointly organized by the Department of Veterinary and Animal Science and the Veterinary Students Forum.
On that day, Professor Dr. Golam Sabbir Sattar started the day’s procession by flying pigeons in front of the Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Administration building at 9.30 a.m.
Among others, pro-vice chancellor Professor Md. Humayun Kabir and others from the university administration were presented. In the procession, the teachers and students of the veterinary department also attended.
In the program, chief guest professor KM Mozaffar Hossain, director of the faculty of veterinary and animal science, said veterinarians are essential for the protection of animal health. They work extensively on zoonotic disease, anti-micrbial resistance, and food safety. So, it is impossible to protect animal health without a veterinarian.
At last, quiz competitions were organized to motivate the students, and prizes were awarded to the winners.
