Wheat farmers are seen happy over bumper production and fair market price in Dupchanchia upazila of Bogura district this season.
The harvesting of wheat has started in all the six unions of the upazila in full swing and the farmers are getting bumper production due to favorable climatic condition and timely supply of necessary agri-input.
Talking to Shazahan Ali a wheat farmer of Gunaher village under the upazila told this correspondent that he cultivated wheat on a bigha of land. No pest attack is seen in the wheat field and he is expecting of bumper production.
While visiting on the spot several farmers said that they received necessary suggestions from agriculture department to make the farming a grand success. Bari gom -33 cultivation is gaining momentum in the area as the farmer can grow 17-18 maunds of wheat from a bigha of land. Each
Additional Upazila Agriculture Officer Mst Salma Akter said Wheat is now a very costly food grain as many food item including diabetes patients take bread daily which makes from wheat.
Per kilogram flour from wheat is being sold in the market at tk 65-70 at present. However the farmers in the district are very happy and smiling as they are expecting for good price of their production.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Sajedul Alom said the cultivation target of wheat has exceeded this season in the upazila. The cultivation will expound next year, he added.
