The Vice-Chancellor of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), M. Kamruzzaman, has resigned. On Friday morning, he submitted his resignation letter to the Chancellor of the University and President of Bangladesh, Md. Shahabuddin. The university’s Registrar, Professor Saifur Rahman, confirmed the matter.
Additionally, the university’s Proctor, Mamunur Rashid, and Student Advisor, Mahabub Hossain, also submitted their resignation letters to the Registrar in the afternoon. It has been reported that several other teachers holding administrative positions are also preparing to resign.
Earlier, on August 5, following rumors of Sheikh Hasina’s resignation from the position of Prime Minister and her departure from the country, a delegation from the Nationalist Teachers Forum of the university visited the Vice-Chancellor’s residence to meet him. However, he was not at home at the time.
Later that evening, some teachers and students learned that the Vice-Chancellor was at the quarters of the university’s Public Relations Officer, Sripati Sikder. The teachers, students, and staff wanted to meet him there, but he initially refused. Eventually, he spoke to the teachers and informed them of his decision to leave the university.
