At least two persons were killed in separate incidents at Phulbariupazila in Kurigram on Saturday (December 12).

Local sources said when Rafikul Islam 40 son of Sayed Ali of village MaddahKashipur under Phulbariupazila went to MaddhaKashipurarea to collect money from Sultan of his given hired shop at 8.00 am. He exchanged hot words with him. At one stage of their altercation Sultan’s associates Alamgir,Jahangir,Sobhan,Shahadat and Shahjahan attacked on him with local weapons and bamboo sticks. Consequently Rafikul was injured seriously who was immediately taken to Phulbariupazila health complex in a critical condition where he died.

On the other hand,Saddam Hossain 30 son of Soljar Hossain of village Char Mekhly under Baravita union in the same upazila cultivated maize on his own land. Hasan son of Ajer Uddin in the same village driven trolley (three wheeler) on his cultivated land. When Saddam Hossain forbade they exchanged hot words at 11.00 am in the same day. At one stage of their altercation Saddam was beaten by his rival. When Saddam’s mother Samosta Bhan 60 came ahead she was also mercilessly beaten by Hasan. She fall down on the land.Her relatives recovered her and shifted to Lalmonirhat sadar Hospital where she died.

Officer-in-charge of Phulbari police station Pran Krishna Debnath said after getting the information police forces were sent to the two spots. The bodies were recovered and brought to police station. A preparation was going on to file cases. After getting case lawful action will be taken, OC added.
