Transport workers of Pabna have staged a procession and a rally demanding to open public transport in compliance with health rules during the coronal lockdown Sunday noon.
At the call of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation, a protest procession came out from the local old bus stand at around 2pm at the joint initiative of Pabna District Motor Workers Union and Truck Drivers Union. The procession turned around the town’s main road and again gathered in front of the old bus stand.
Convener of Pabna District Motor Workers Union Mosharraf Hossain, former president of Motor Workers Union Firoz Hossain, president of Truck Drivers Union Shahidullah Sheikh, general secretary Amirul Islam Ishaq, former vice president of Motor Workers Union Jiban Kumar Sarkar, former line secretary Alal Hossain and others addressed the rally. .
Speakers said that even though the market shopping mall was opened in Lockdown, public transport has been kept closed. Workers have been starving for half a day with their families as public transport has been closed for three long weeks. In this situation, the leaders appealed to the government to immediately open public transport.
