Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the main accused in Rooppur project driver’s murder. Momin was arrested from Banglamotor area in Hatirjheel area in the capital on Sunday night.

A total of two accused have been arrested in this sensational case so far. Earlier, Momin’s wife Sima Khatun was arrested by the police.

The two-day remand of the previously arrested Sima is ongoing. The victim’s father filed a murder case with Ishwardi police station on Saturday night as he plaintiff.

After his arrest, the killer Momin confessed to RAB during preliminary interrogation that he had committed the murder out of “personal vendetta due to an extraterrestrial love affair”.

However, RAB did not give any details about how, in what plan, under whose influence Sarat was killed. The arrested Momin’s father Bahadur Khar a residence of Bansherbada Madhyapara (Dokanpara) village under Ishwardi Upazila in Pabna.

The deceased Samrat son of Abu Bakkar Siddique of Mid Orankola Refugee Colony area of the same upazila. Additional DIG Maruf Hossain PPM, commander of RAB-12, Sirajganj confirmed the information and adding that RAB launched the operation after a case was filed with Ishwardi police station regarding the sensational murder.

The arrested accused Momin will be handed over to the investigating officer of the case at Ishwardi police station on Monday. Then they will do the legal process

According to RAB, the deceased Samrat was working as a driver for the Managing Director of Nikim Company of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Yuri Federop for about three years.

After disappearance of Samrat, police recovered the sacked body of the driver Samrat along with his jeep from a place called Shilaidah Ghat in Aruabanda village of Kumarkhali upazila in Kushtia.

Meanwhile, Sima said in the preliminary interrogation of the police that on Thursday night, Samrat went to their house and lay down on the bed saying that she was having a headache. When her husband Momin went out to fetch the medicine, he put his hand on Sarat Seema’s body.

Then in anger and rage she hit his head and private parts with a hammer, leaving Samrat died on the spot.  Later, when her husband returned home, they filled the body in a sack and took it to the car and went around to different places. Later, Momin dropped his wife Sima from the car and left the car with the body at Shilaidah Ghat and fled.

Meanwhile, Sima Khatun, who was arrested in Sarat Hossain’s murder case, has been remanded by the police for two days.

SI Tahid Hossain of Ishwardi police station, the investigating officer of the case, said that the two-day remand is going on till Sunday.Earlier, Judge Shamsuzzaman of Pabna Administrative Court-2 granted a two-day remand.

The slain Samrat’s father demanded exemplary punishment for the killers.
