The 14th founding anniversary of Pabna University of Science and Technology was celebrated on Sunday with the corridors decorated colorfully.
The celebration programmes were arranged in two phases. The first phase included flag hoisting, inauguration of tree planting, tributes were paid to father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary mural ‘Janak Jyotirmoy’, tribute at Shaheed Minar and tribute at Swadhinata Chattar, poet Bande Ali Mia Muktamancha was inaugurated on the bank of the lake in the campus by vice- chancellor Prof Dr Hafiza Khatun.
A colourful, joyous procession brought out on the campus led by vice-chancellor Prof Dr Hafiza Khatun.
The vice-chancellor Prof Hafiza Khatun briefed about the current activities of the PUST, success and future. She advised all the faculty members, students, officials and employees to work relentlessly to take PUST to the zenith of prosperity at this time.
Vice-Chancellor inaugurated the blood donation programme on this day. The students served an aesthetic flashmob on the playground.
In the second part of the day, a discussion was organised on the campus on the occasion of PUST Day. PUST vice-chancellor prof Dr Hafiza Khatun presided over the discussion. Biochemist, zoologist, independence award-winning Dhaka University Prof Hasina Khan graced the occasion as chief guest.
The chief guest was given a floral greeting and a crest of honor. Rewards are given to the students of the university.
Prof Dr Hasina Khan said that girls are lagging behind in science education in Bangladesh due to various adversities. Girls need to be more attentive in science education.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Hafiza Khatun said that the area of PUST will be increased to 100 acres to increase the size of the university. Various researches will be done jointly with Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. The relevant section will be opened. He announced the opening of a biochemistry department at the university.
Among others Prof Dr. SM Mostafa Kamal of PUST, former treasurers Prof Anwar Khasru Parvez, first capital university vice-chancellor Prof Md. Hazrat Ali were also present in the programm.
Later, sports competitions, prize distribution and cultural programmes were organised.
