Speakers in a function underscored the need for protecting the children from all sorts of violence including early marriage considering their better future.
“As the children are the future of the nation, all of us as stakeholders should come forward with positive attitude to save the children from violence , drug trading, drug taking and physical complexities caused by early marriage”, they also said.
They made the observations while they were addressing a view exchange meeting on protecting children from violence and early marriage at Udakhali Union under Fulchhariupazila in the district very recently.
Bangladesh Chapter of World Vision International, a global Christian relief, development, and advocacy organization, arranged the function under Strengthening Social &Behavior Change project funded by UNICEF.
The function started through a power point presentation done by project officer RekhaKhatun. Then, the invited persons made their speeches and recommendations on how to protect the children from the social violence and early marriage.
They also underlined the need for enhancing much awareness among the common people aimed to reduce the tendency of early marriage to have better society.
They also recommended building social movement against early marriage for the welfare of the children side by side with protecting the children from crimes and violence.
A number of upazila level officials, public representatives, social workers, religious leaders, teachers, students, NGO activists and media men participated in the function.
