President takes 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccine

President M Abdul Hamid today received the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine at Bangabhaban here.

“The President along with his spouse Rashida Khanam took the second first of coronavirus vaccine at 1 pm at Bangabhaban,” President’s Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin told BSS.

Family members, secretaries concerned to the President and his personal physicians, among others, were present during the vaccination, he added.

Earlier on March 10, 2021, the head of the state received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on March 4.

The premier inaugurated the COVID-19 vaccination rollout in the country virtually at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital on January 27.

The first shot of the Oxford-Astrazeneca developed vaccine produced by the Serum Institute of India (SII) was administered to a nurse of Kurmitola General Hospital during the inauguration of the vaccination campaign.

Bangladesh started administering the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine on April 8 while the nationwide inoculation was started on February 7.

As many as 58, 18,400 people have got the first dose till April 25 while some 32, 10, 509 people got the second dose till May 5, said a source of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
