Power Project Achievement and Learning Coordination Workshop

The Power Project Achievement and Learning Coordination Workshop was held at SKS Inn, Gaibandha on Wednesday. The day-long workshop was jointly [Promoting Opportunity of Women Empowerment and Rights (POWER)] organized by SKS Foundation and Action Aid Bangladesh.

Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner Md. Abdul Matin addressed the workshop as the chief guest under the chairmanship of Russell Ahmed Liton, Executive Chief of SKS Foundation. Farah Kabir, Country Director, Action Aid Bangladesh and SR HR Gender Specialist, SR HR Gender Specialist, Embassy of the Netherlands in Dhaka addressed the video conference as special guests.

Mahfuza Khanam Mita, President of Gaibandha District Branch of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad addressed the workshop. Helal Uddin, Action Aid Bangladesh South Asia Advocacy Co-ordinator, Joseph Halder, Publication Director of SKS Foundation, Khandaker Zahid Sarwar, Assistant President of Development Program and Palash Kumar Kundar of Nari Bidher, Fulchhari Upazila Minara Begum, Fulchhari Upazila Kanchipara UP Member Khalilur Rahman, Journalist SM Biplob Islam, Fulchhari Press Club Secretary Shah Alam Jadu, Found Project Manager Ashraful Islam and others. The event was moderated by Ashraful Alam, SKS Foundation Publications Coordinator.

The chief guest Md. Abdul Matin said, if men work now, if women sit still what will be the development of the country, it will never happen. Now women also work, men also work that is why the country will go a long way. I really like this project. And the power project with women has done a great job. This is how Bangladesh will move forward. We do not want to leave Bangladesh behind, we dream of a better world. The government is working that way.

Russell Ahmed Lytton, chief executive of the SKS Foundation, thanked the Dutch government and said that Action Aid and the SKS Foundation have been working with the government to promote women’s advancement. The power project is also working to achieve SDG.

Note: The project is working in 5 unions of Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila and 5 unions of Fulchhari upazila of Gaibandha.
