PM inaugurated Ishwardi-Ruppur railway line

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated Ishwardi-Ruppur railway line constructed for transporting heavy goods of Ruppur nuclear power plant of Ishwardi inPabna. She announced the inauguration of this railway line through a video conference from Ganabhabanat around 12.05pmon Thursday

At that time, local Awami League and railway officials along with Pabna-4 constituency member of parliament Nuruzzaman Biswas, deputy commissioner Biswas Russel Hossain, superintendent of police Akbar Ali Munshi were present near Rooppur station in Ishwardi, Pabna.

Ishwardi-Ruppur Nuclear Power Plant railway project director chief engineer (West) AsadulHaque said that the railway-friendly Awami League government has taken strong steps for the development of railways. A lot of goods will be transported on this new rail route. This will increase the revenue of railways.In this project, Tk336 crore have been spent on the construction of this 26.52 km railway from Ishwardi bypass take off point to Rooppur nuclear power plant.

After the opening of the station, the cargo transportation of cargo trains from the country and abroad will be easy. There will be radical changes in business. Time and cost will be saved, revenue will increase in the country.Besides, export goods from Ishwardi EPZ can reach Chittagong port directly in short time and at low cost. Similarly imported raw materials will also come to the port EPZ. Not only the railways, but also the entire transport sector, this new rail route has been called an outstanding progress.

Earlier, the work of this project started on April 1, 2018. The railway has been built on a partnership basis between India’s GPT and Bangladesh’s SEL and CCL. About 26.52 km dual gauge (broad gauge and meter gauge) railway line has been constructed from Ishwardi bypass take off point to Rooppur nuclear power plant in Pakshi. There are 13 labeled crossings on this route.
