One murdered and 13 others were injured by rival over land dispute at Hemerkuti village under Holokhana union in KurigramSadarupazila.

The deceased was identified as Khadem Ali 70son of late KhatuMamud of village Hemerkuti village of Masterer area under the union.

Local sources said there was previous enmity with a disputed land between two groups around 17-18 years back. A case in this connection is also pending in the court.

However, Khadem Miah went to his disputed land in the morning on Monday which is under his possession to plant paddy. His rival Noornabi resisted. Following the incident he exchanged hot words with his rival Noornabi in the same area.At one stage of their altercation they called their relatives and they chase and counter chase with bamboo sticks and local sharp weapons and attacked each other. The injured were Yakub30,Ershad 28,Hossain Ali 65,Ismail 67,Noornabi 70,Abdul Jalil 43,Khalil 42,Shafikul 35,Jasim 23,Shadida Begum 60,Khoteja 60, Hafsa 26, Khadem Ali 70,Meher Ali 42 and Abu Sufean 28. Of them, Khadem Ali 70, Meher Ali 42 and Abu Sufean 28 were sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition for better treatment where Khadem Ali died in the evening on Monday.

Officer-in-charge of KurigramSadar police station Khan Mohammad Shahreartold this correspondent on Tuesday that a case was lodged with police and seven persons were arrested.
