Due to prolong onrush stream from upper slope the official activities Moyurerchar Government Primary School (MGPS) has been disrupted under Sariakandi upazila in Bogura.
Though the classes of the school have been suspended for a long time to avoid corona infection among the school across the country, the official activities have kept open according the order of education office.
The teachers of MGPS are quite unable to perform the official instruction as their school building along with play ground inundated. They are seen worried for their mild students as the students could not reach the school to take the assignment papers provided by government during corona pandemic.
Due to the rising waters of river Jamuna village after village including education institution and mosque in different area of the district have gone under water. The people are suffering much for the situation in the low lying area of the district.
Water enters the building and the furniture as well as papers has been damaged for having under water, said headmaster of the school. In order to avoid this misery again and again, the school authority have started shifting furniture but fail for several cause.
The water level of the Jamuna River in Sariakandi Sonatola and Dhunot upazila have risen due to steep slopes and heavy rains coming down from the upper reaches in the last few days. The overall flood situation in the district has deteriorated as new areas have been flooded as a result of continued water rise.
According to the local water development board, the water level of the river Jamuna increased by 10 cm in 24 hours from 12 pm on Wednesday to Thursday at Mathurapara point in Sariakandi and flowed above the danger level of 56 cm.
According to the district Education Office, flood water has entered over hundred primary schools in the district. As a result the official activities have been disrupted severely, causing agony for school authority and guardian simultaneously.
