A mysterious theft has taken place in the PabnaSadarupazila server room of Election Commission’s Pabnadistrict server station building. Several valuable items including laptop and camera were lost, police said.

The nature of the burglaries in rooms that are covered by security fences is a mystery.

Pabna district election officer MdMahbubur Rahman confirmed the theft on Sunday noon.   Earlier on Saturday sometime in the night, the incident took place in the server room of PabnaSadarupazila on the ground floor of the election office located in front of the Agricultural Research Institute on Circuit High Road.

Md. Mahbubur Rahman said, “after the weekend, the office opened today (Sunday) and found out about the theft through the officers and employees. A review of the CCTV footage showed that the thief entered the room by cutting the behind grill of the building on Saturday night.

He also said that the matter has already been informed to the police, various intelligence agencies and the forensic crime unit. The room was immediately sealed to protect the evidence. Intelligence agency and forensic crime unit will come and investigate the matter seriously. Then you will know exactly what is missing.”

Officer-in-Charge of Pabnapolice station Aminul Islam said that a laptop, camera and some pads were stolen. We are investigating the matter. The investigation will be detailed later.
