The 1330 homeless families have been handed over government houses as the gift of Mujib Barsha by the Prime Minister at Sadar upazila premise in Bogura on Wednesday noon.
Among the beneficiaries of the government houses, many of them shade tears after getting the deed of the houses and thanked the Almighty Allah as they could not think of living in the brick-built houses given by the government.
They expressed their extreme gratitude to the government as they are to wet rain water, to beg in the streets, to dry in the sun light before getting the government houses and now they eye the better lives with ensured livelihood by conducting a small shop at the corner of the gifted houses.
In the fourth phase, the 1330 homeless families have been given government houses as the gift of the Prime Minister by the district administration after the inauguration through video conference by the Prime Minister to the landless and homeless people in Bogura district.
Upazila-wise: the deeds of the 201 houses in sadar upazila, 84 houses in Adamdighi upazila, 28 houses in Dhunat upazila, 70 houses in Gabtoli upazila, 10 houses in Kahaloo upazila, 417 houses in Shariakandi upazila, 77 houses in Shajahanpur upazila, 171 houses in Sherpur upazila, 115 houses in Shibgonj upazila and 157 in Sonatola upazila were handed over in the district.
District administration sources said that so far 4923 landless and homeless people of the 12 upazilas of the district have received the houses donated by the Prime Minister as the gift of Mujib Barsha.
During the deed handover programme, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bogura Md. Saiful Islam was present as the chief guest and Upazila Nirbahi Officer of sadar upazila Firoza Parvin presided over the programme.
The chief guest said that no one will remain homeless in Bangladesh as the government has been working on the very vital issue as public-friendly Prime Minister promised earlier.
So far, the people of 7 upazilas became landless people free as the Prime Minister is the shelter of the homeless and landless people, added the DC of Bogura.
During the deed handover programme, speakers were the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bogura Sudip Kumar Chakrabarty bpm, Chief Executive of District Parishad, Bogura Ashraful Momin Khan, sadar upazila chairman Abu Shufian Shafiq, Awami League sadar upazila unit General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Raj, Sadar upazila vice-chairman Dalia Nasrin Rikta and others.
