Int’l women’s day observed in Gaibandha

International Women’s Day-2025 was observed in the district on Saturday through active participation of all non-government and social organizations to ensure the overall development of the women folk.

This year’s theme of the day was ‘Rights Equality, Empowerment /Development of Women and Girls’.

Marking the day, JanoUddyog, a social plat form which works for ensuring human rights, chalked out the elaborate programs.

In the morning around 11 AM a post rally discussion was held at the hall room of JanoUddyog  of the town here with convener of the plat form Principal ZahurulQaiyum in the chair.

Advocate Sirajul Islam Babu, president of PoribeshAndolon here Waziur Rahman Raphel, assistant vice president of SachetanNagorik Committee ZiaulHaque Kamal, member secretary of JanoUddyogProbirChakrabartee, teacher RanjitSarker, human rights worker Anjali Rani Debi, female leader Nazma Begum and Selina Akhter Soma, teacher SahzadiHabiba Sultana, Golam Rabbani Musa and social worker Munir Hossain Sweet addressed the function among others.

The speakers in their speeches said it is a matter of sorrow that the day is celebrated in Bangladesh but women’s rights cannot be ensured rather women are being subjected to exploitation and oppression in various ways.

Women have performed important duties in all the democratic movements of the country, including the Language Movement, the Great War of Liberation, they also said

Even women and female students had played an important role in July-August uprising-2024, they added.

At present, women rape, murder, torture are in rising tendency, which terrifies   the patriotic people.

, the ways of national progress will be blocked If women cannot give proper dignity, they further added.

In this context, the speakers urged all to get united and to build rigorous movement in the society against all sorts of inequality of women to push forward the country towards desired development in a bid to build beautiful Bangladesh in the days to come.

A large number of social workers, female leaders, human rights activists and invited persons attended the program.
