Minimum thirty organizations including businessmen and professionals have taken part in the program in solidarity willingly .
Under the chairmanship of Upazila Interest Protection Parishad President KM Mahbubar Rahman Harez, Sherpur Municipality Mayor Alhaj¦ Jane Alam Khoka, Business Association President Shafiqul Islam Shiru, General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hiru, District Bus-Minibus Coach & President of Microbus Paribahan Sramik Union Arifur Rahman Milan, General Secretary Matiur Rahman Moti, Municipal Councilor Feroz Ahmed Jewel, businessman Shafiqul Islam Arfan, BHM Kamruzzaman Rafu, Nurul Islam Nuru, Mostafizur Rahman Nilu, Abdul Wahab Zoardar, Afshar Ali spoke in the program and Mukul Hossain, leader of Swarth Raksha Parishad, moderated the program on the occasion.
Speakers in the rally demanded the construction of flyovers and underpass in Banani and Matidali areas apart from Sherpur town under construction six-lane highway, saying that if this is not done, there will be a slowdown in business sectors .
Thousands of workers will become unemployed.Along with this, there will be unlimited suffering at the highway crossing.  Especially school-college going students have to suffer.
Apart from this, there will be a division between the people on the east and west sides of the highway. So construction of flyover and underpass is very important for all classes of people of the town.
Calling for immediate implementation of this demand, the speakers also said, otherwise the people of this area will come down on the streets. The speakers even warned people from all walks of life, regardless of party affiliation, to form a strong movement with a strict program to realize that important public demand.
When asked,President of the Upazila Interest Protection Council KM Mahbubar Rahman Harez said that SASEC-2 has been implementing the Elenga Hatikumrul-Rangpur highway six-lane upgrading project.
In the past, the concerned authorities promised to construct a flyover at Sherpur, but there is no effective action to implement it.This has created many questions and doubts in the public mind. He said, if the flyover is not constructed here, eighteen markets and numerous business establishments will suffer.Especially the country’s one of the rice mokam and curd-sweets business will collapse for this reason.
As a result, thousands of people involved in these professions will become unemployed.  He said that the situation will be difficult in their family.
Sherpur Bus Stand Traders Association President Shafiqul Islam Shiru said in this context, during the previous BNP government, gas went to cut heart of this upazila towards  North Bengal. But we did not get the benefit of using this gas. So the people of Sherpur will not return home until the public demand of construction of flyover is fulfilled.
Alhaj¦ Jane Alam Khoka, Mayor of Sherpur Municipality, said that previously a joint meeting has been held in the Upazila Parishad regarding the issue. The officials of the concerned department informed about the construction of flyover and underpass there.
But so far there has been no progress in implementing that promise. Rather, they have been continuing the six-lane road construction work in the dark of night with dust in everyone’s eyes which is very sad.
Because to protect the town of Sherpur, the construction of flyover and underpass in the populated market area is very important. If that is not done, the people of this region will be in extreme danger. This demand has turned into a demand for the lives of the people of Sherpur. So taking the matter seriously, Mayor Jane Alam Khoka made a strong demand to the concerned department of the government to construct the flyover in Sherpur town by allocating the necessary funds.
