Abu Sufian, a student of the 19th batch from the Department of Civil Engineering at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), is set to participate in the Suzuki 11th National Airgun Championship. Sufian is currently in his final year of honors.

On Wednesday, May 22, Sufian will compete in the National Championship held at the Shooting Federation in Gulshan, Dhaka. He will participate in the Air Rifle Men and Air Rifle Mixed Team events.

Throughout his shooting career, Abu Sufian has won numerous national and international awards. Internationally, he has earned a silver medal in a shooting competition in Russia and placed among the top 10 in Germany. Nationally, he has won more than 10 medals, including over 5 golds. In the last Bangladesh Games, he secured a bronze medal.

From a young age, Sufian has been cherished by his parents and known for his lively nature. His grandfather, a renowned hunter of his time, inspired young Sufian with his bird hunting using a personal gun. This fascination turned into a passion. Sufian has been enthusiastic about sports since childhood and has excelled in his studies as well.

He began his formal journey in sports by enrolling in BKSP in 2012, and by the end of that year, he won a gold medal in the Airgun Championship, boosting his confidence. In 2014, he won gold in the Inter-Club Championship and subsequently in the Junior National Three-Position event the following year.

Sufian excels not only in shooting but also in academics. When asked about managing his studies along with shooting, Sufian said, “I have had a keen interest in shooting from a young age, and this passion has now turned into a responsibility.

My family, university administration, teachers, and fellow students have provided immense support and inspiration in fulfilling this responsibility. During my off-form periods, my university friends, seniors, and juniors have helped me remain mentally strong.

In the future, I aspire to achieve the highest awards at both national and international levels, bringing honor to my university and country. I always seek the support and prayers of my university teachers and students. I believe that with the support of my family and university community, I can achieve great things. I want to be known as Abu Sufian of HSTU and elevate the name of my beloved HSTU.”
