Ahsan Habib Ambia, general secretary of Upazila Awami League under Sherpur upazila of Bogrua district , has been expelled from his post.

The decision was taken unanimously by the members of the party’s executive committee at an emergency meeting held in the hall room of Sherpur Town Club Public Library Women’s College on Tuesday evening.

Badrul Islam Poddar Bobby, organizing secretary of the Upazila Awami League, said the meeting unanimously decided to expel General Secretary Ahsan Habib Ambia from the post of General Secretary and primary member for life for allegedly violating party discipline.  The recommendation of this decision will be sent to the Central Committee through the District Committee within a day or two.

The meeting was chaired by Sherpur Upazila Awami League President Freedom fighter and former Mayor Alhaj Abdus Sattar. Golam Farooq, Upazila Awami League co-president Mohammad Ali Muntu, Munshi Saiful Bari Dablu, Adv.  Elias Uddin Mintu, Adv. Azmi Ara Parveen Santana, former president Gourdas Roy Chowdhury, former general secretary Shahjamal Siraj, joint secretary Sultan Mahmud, organizing secretary Badrul Islam Poddar and other leaders of the upazila committee.

It may be mentioned that a protest was held recently against Ahsan Habib Ambia demanding his expulsion for insulting Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Awami League leaders and activists.
