The flower cultivation is gaining popularity in all the nine upazilas in Kurigram as it is profitable and many unemployed persons are being self-reliant cultivating flowers.

While visiting at Kathalbari union under Kurigramsadarupazila and found that marigold variety of flowers are being cultivated beside Kurigram-Rangpurhighwar leasing around one bigha of land.

Locals said those flowers are being sold at Kurigram College crossing areas which is used in various functions. The demand of flowers have been increased to decorate in various functions including marriage ceremony, gates, rooms, offices, business establishments and the Historical February 21. The highest demand of flowers is on the occasion of February 21. Huge amount of floral wreath are placed in the ShahidMinar and Doamahfil is held for those heroes who sacrificed their lives for Bangla Language.

On the other hand the flower traders are doing brisk business. They are being benefitted to sale flowers in high rates. Many of them are becoming self-reliant selling flowers.
