A Pabna court on Tuesday sentenced a man and his son to death and three others to life imprisonment in sensational Raihan Chowdhury Hera murder case in Pailanpur mahalla of Pabna district town in 2008. Additional District and Sessions Judge Shyam Sundar Roy delivered the verdict on Tuesday afternoon. The court also fined Tk. 20 thousand from each of all convicts.

Two life convicts were present during the verdict. The rest of the accused are absconding.

The death sentence goes to Mizanur Rahman Mizan and his son Md. Tushar in Pailanpur mohalla while the life term imprisonment goes to Md. Masum son of Abdur Rashid of Gobindha mohalla, Md. Mishu, son of Mizanur Rahman in Pailanpur mohalla and Md. Arshed alias Ershad son of Azhar Ali of village Kacharipara.
Of the accused Md. Masum and Md. Arshed were sent to jail from the court room as they have appeared before the court during the verdict said, Md. Eusuf Ali Sardar, additional public prosecutor of the court. The convicts others did not appear in the court during the verdict he added.

According to case statement the convicts mercilessly chopped Rayhan Chowdhury Hera over the dispute of money and killed him at Pailanpur crossing area on May, 5, 2008. Victim’s father Azhar Ali filed a case accusing nine people while the police submitted the charge sheet accusing nine people.

According to the witness and evidences the court convicted five people where four were acquitted from the charge Advocate Eusuf said. The court however fined Tk. 20 thousand from each of all convicts he added.
