Faruk Mondil become self-reliant pisciculturing fingerlings in Kurigram

One agriculturist FarukMondol of Rajarhatupazila in Kurigram district is now self-reliant pisciculturing (breeding and rearing) fingerlings. At first he purchased G-3 variety of Rui fingerlings weighing 500 gram at Taka five thousand from Rangpur on September last.

The fingerlings of Rui sizes four inches is being sold at Taka 350 per kg. The tasty Rui fish increases rapidly in the pond weighing up to 6-7 kgs. Consequently, the pisciculturists are trying to change their fatepisciculturing (fingerlings) here.

The pisciculturist (fingerlings) Omar FarukMondol of village Nafadanga under Rajahratupazila has been rearing pisciculture in his pond in ancient system for long. He came to know the High Yielding Variety of Rui fist G-3 in Rangpur where he managed the fingerlings of that variety.

At the end of dense fog in the last winter season and in the current month of April he has sold 286 kgs of fingerlings at Taka 350 per kg in four inchi size per piece. Hehas sold more than one lakh taka. He will sale more 800 kgs of fingerlings. If he keeps those finger links in his pond for one year he will be more benefitted, he said. However, many pisciculture traders are purchasing fingerlings of Rui fish from him observing its growth.

The pisciculture trader FarukMondol told that such kind of variety of Ruifish grows rapidly and it is profitable. It is needed of cost at taka 50-60 thousand to produce, feed and nursing of the finger links of 500 gram which will sale at Taka3.00-3.50 lakh.

Team Leader of Combined Agriculture Unit of RangpurDinajpur Rural Service (RDRS) of Rangpur Office Biddut Kumar Shaha informed that the growth of such kind of Rui fish is 30 percent more than local Rui fishes. Consequently, mass eagerness have been created among the pisciculture traders. We are supplying these variety of finger link as the people can fulfil their demand of nutrition and the pisciculturists will be benefitted, he added.
