In a program organized in Rajshahi, the speakers said, 50 years have passed since our victory. The golden jubilee of the great victory of independent Bangladesh is being celebrated. But the principles of the liberation war, equality, justice, human dignity have not been fully achieved yet.

They say that in a civilized society, democracy and mass media are complementary. One without the other is useless. Without democracy, such an independent media is unthinkable. Again, the independent media is the bulwark of democracy.

But the struggle for democracy and freedom of the media is still going on. Everyone must be united in the struggle to establish the dignity of journalists, ensure security and realize their rights.

The speakers said this at a discussion meeting and prayer program jointly organized by Rajshahi Metropolitan Press Club and Rajshahi Reporters Unity on the occasion of Great Victory Day at noon on Thursday.

President of Rajshahi Metropolitan Press Club SM Abdul Mughni Nero presided over the function and former general secretary of Rajshahi Bar Association, President of River and Environment Protection Movement Bangladesh Advocate Enamul Haque was the chief guest.

Rajshahi University Professor of Arabic spoke as a special guest. Iftikharul Alam Masood. General Secretary of Rajshahi Metropolitan Press Club Muha: Abdul Awal gave welcome speech in the ceremony. Among others, Mamunur Rashid, Rajshahi Metropolitan General Secretary of Gana Forum, Masud Rana Rabbani, Senior Vice President of Rajshahi Metropolitan Press Club, Faisal Ahmed, Finance Secretary spoke. Moin Uddin, General Secretary of Rajshahi Reporters Unity conducted the program.

Abu Hena Mostafa Zaman, Organizing Secretary of Rajshahi Reporters Unity and Iftekhar Alam, Office Secretary were present. Apart from the members of Rajshahi Mahanagar Press Club and Rajshahi Reporters Unity, journalists and professional leaders of various media were also present.

A colorful rally was organized by Rajshahi Metropolitan Press Club and Rajshahi Reporters Unity on the occasion of the day before the discussion meeting. The rally started from Sonadighi junction of the city, went around various important roads and ended in front of Rajshahi Metropolitan Press Club.
