Speakers in a function here underscored the need for ensuring institutional delivery in lieu of home delivery to prevent mortality rate of the mothers and the newborn.
“ The importance of institutional delivery is more compared to home delivery which is very risky for the mothers and the new-born. Every pregnant mothers should be brought under at least 4-times check-up to avoid delivery related complexities”, they also said.
They made the observations while they were addressing a quarterly coordination meeting on the progress, review and achievements of the Santal Health Project-2024 at the conference room of Gobindaganjupazila health complex in the district on Monday afternoon.
In the meeting a power point presentation was done by ganae consultant of the complex Dr. FahmidaShireenNeela. In her presentation she said LAMB Hospital, Parbotipur, Dinajpur is implementing the project at Santal dominated union Shatmara of the upazila in the district with the financial support of UNFPA.
Deputy Director of the department of family planning here Md. Tariqul Islam attended the meeting as the chief guest andupazila health and family planning officer Dr. Md. Masudar Rahman spoke at the meeting as the special guest while upazila family planning officer Abdul Jalil presided over the meeting.
The speakers in their speeches said the project is keeping much contribution to reduce the mortality rates of the pregnant mothers and the newborn babies of the backward ethnic community-Santal since the inception of the project.
They also urged the staff concerned to be more serious and punctual and sincere in case of providing their services from the project to make the project a grand success through attaining the cherished goals of the project.
District facilitator of the LAMB Md. Shariful Islam also highlighted the progress and achievement of the project and sought whole-hearted cooperation of all concerned.
All the health and family planning staff and NGO activists working in the union attended the meeting.
