Death allegation  of person against a private clinic called Seba Nursing Home in Sherpur municipality under Sherpur upazila of Bogura district  has been accused of mismanagement and wrong treatment. The deceased was identified as Bhandar Kafura of Khanpur Union under Chanmia Mandal (60) of the upazila.
It is learned that on the advice of a neighbor, he was admitted for treatment at Seba Nursing Home, Jagannath Para in the clinic  at 11 am last Saturday (July 31).  Later, the manager of the clinic, Dr. SM Shah Ali, said that the patient had gallstones in his gallbladder after undergoing a fictitious examination without adequate examination.
The patient was taken to the operating theater at around 5 pm that day when the patient is transferred to the ward at the end of the operation, his condition gradually deteriorates. He died at half past one in the night. His death caused a heated situation when his relatives shouted for mismanagement. Sherpur police immediately went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Manjurul Islam, son of the deceased, said that his father was suffering from heart disease. They informed the doctor about this. But the doctor ignored them and decided to operate because there was no problem. There was no anesthesiologist or specialist surgeon during the operation.  The owner of the nursing home, Dr. Shah Ali, and two nurses performed the operation, which was not legal, and his father died due to incompetence and negligence of the clinic authority. He demanded justice for the incident.
Although I( Journalist himself) tried to talk to Dr. SM Shah Ali, the owner of Seba Nursing Home, more than once, but it was not possible to meet him.
Asked about the death of the patient, Sherpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahidul Islam said, “No one has lodged any written or verbal complaint with us yet.”
It is learned that Seba Nursing Home has been conducting their mismanagement treatment activities for a long time illegally.
But according to the District Civil Surgeon’s Office, even though their registration expired after 2018, they have not renewed it yet.  There is also a shortage of specialist doctors, anesthetists, nurses and medical equipment required to run private clinics.
In this regard, District Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Mostafizur Rahman said that every private hospital and clinic has some specific rules and regulations. If anyone else runs a clinic-hospital it is definitely illegal. We will take action if we receive specific complaints.
Referring to the mismanagement of the clinics, Munshi Saiful Bari Dablu, president of the Sherpur Citizens’ Interest Protection Committee, and Shafiqul Islam, general secretary of the Citizens for Good Governance (Sujan) Sherpur Upazila, said most clinics in Sherpur were not paying attention to government rules.
As a result, on the one hand, such citizens are being deprived of such  better treatment, in many cases even leading to the death of the patient. They demanded increased surveillance of the authorities and punishment of the culprits.
