Creating much awareness among the people about safe migration, human trafficking prevention underscored

Speakers in a function here today underscored the need for creating much awareness among all sections of the peoples of the society about safe migration and human trafficking prevention.

“After going abroad in illegal way, the victimized persons are to face various problems including lawful action. As a result, the victims also tarnish the country’s image. In addition, the financial condition of the victim is also affected.  In this context, there is no alternative to creating much awareness among the common people”, they also said.

They made the comments while they were addressing a discussion meeting  and campaign on safe migration and prevention of human trafficking on the premises of Dween Mohammad High School under Gidari union of Sadar upazila in the district this morning.

Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), a reputed NGO of the district, arranged the training under PROSPERITY (Promoting Resilience, Opportunity and Socio-Economic Empowerment of Migrants Climate displaced Communities in Bangladesh) Project funded by AWO International and BMZ while chairman of the union parishad Harunur Rashid Edu presided over the ceremony.

Principal of Gaibandha Govt. College Professor Md. Khalilur Rahman attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest and principal of Gaibandha Technical Training Center engineer Abdur Rahim and district employment and manpower officer NesarulHaquespoke at the event as the special guests.

The guests in their speeches said as the easy and simple mided people of the country are being victimized to human trafficking at all time, all the stakeholders of the society and  volunteers’ group would have to come forward in positive attitude and play significant role to prevent human trafficking if they are made aware about the issues.

Later palagaan regarding safe migration and human trafficking was rendered by a music group to create awareness among the people. A large number of people including teachers, guardians, students, local elite, invited persons attended the program.

Mentionable that, GUK is implementing the project for the welfare of migrant returnees and climate victims at six unions of Sadar and Fulchhariupazilas of the district, said senior programme manager of the GUK JoyaProshad.
