Contingency plan helps the government and non-government organizations  handle disaster situation properly and effectively through reducing loss of lives and properties.

“ If the organizations have the contingency plans, the organizations can perform their tasks in systematic and planned way resulting it is possible for the organizations to achieve its targets or goals about the disaster. To keep pace with the time and works it needs to be reviewed”, they also said.

They made the comments while they were addressing a workshop on Contingency Plan Revive in Gaibandha held at Balashi conference room of SKS Inn located at Radhakrishnapur, a suburb of the district town here this noon.

SKS Foundation, a Gaibandha base non-government development organization, arranged the workshop under Asia Community Disaster Preparedness and Transformation (ACT) Project funded by Oxfam in Bangladesh.

Deputy director of the department of agricultural extension here KrishibidKhorshedAlamSarker, district livestock officer AbdurRazzak and district relief and rehabilitation officer Mohammad Shafiqul Islam addressed the function as the invited guests while deputy director of SKS Foundation KhandakarZahidSarwar presided over the  ceremony.

Fisheries survey officer Md. Golam Jilanee, journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman and project implementation officer of SundarganjupazilaMashiur Rahman spoke at the function among others.

A number of government officials in district and upazila level and NGO representatives including journalists participated in the function.
