Civil Engineering Day and the 54th anniversary of the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) were celebrated in Chapainawabganj under the theme “Demand for non-discriminatory workplace-time”.

Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj Md. Abdus Samad inaugurated the colorful rally by flying the dove symbol of peace as the chief guest at 10 am on Monday morning.

After that, the rally came out from there and went around the different roads of the city and met in the discussion meeting at the old office of the Public Works Department.

IDEB Genic Chapainawabganj district branch president Md. Mehdi Khan presided over the event.

Speakers in the discussion meeting said that the aim of building a society-state free from discrimination, although the country became independent, that goal was not achieved in the past days. As a result, unlimited class discrimination in all areas has fueled exploitation, deprivation, oppression in the social-state. Non-discriminatory workplace time is very important in reality but the issue has been neglected. Diploma engineers are being crushed along with various professions in the country due to overall discrimination. Discrimination in jobs for diploma engineers has reached extreme levels. We have been appealing against this discrimination for a long time in various departments of the government regarding our just demands. But no role has been taken in implementing our just demands. We seek cooperation from the present government to remove the discrimination of diploma engineers. It should be noted that the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) was established on November 8, 1970.
