Former Counsellour of Bogura Municipality and Jubo-league leader was convicted, fined for achieving illegal assets by Special Judge of Bogura on Tuesday afternoon. The convicted leader was identified as Abdul Motin Sarkar, a Jubo-league leader and
Senior District Judge Md. Shahidullah pronounced the verdict after a long time hearing.
Court source said that the previous case record of the convicted was very bad and dangerous and the court pronounced 13 years of jail and fined at Tk. 2,28,31,315 on two cases for achieving illegal wealth and 6 months more jailed if he fails to pay the fined money.
After August 05, 2025, he fled from the scene and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the cases before 7 years ago and he was also convicted by another court for 20 years on separate case, added the court.
Case statement said that Jubo-league leader Motin and his brother sramic league leader Tufan had been made an avenue of terrorism in the area and they conducted random extortion in areas of Bogura town and achieved Tk. 2, 28, 31,315 illegally.
Later, the then Assistant Director of ACC, Bogura Aminul Islam lodged a case on January 31, 2018 against the convicted person and after 14 months investigation, charged sheet was placed by the ACC in the court and on Feb 27, 2020 and charged was framed on Dec 15, 2021 and on Feb 17, 2019, an order gave by the court to take over his all properties and his bank accounts was frizzed by the court.
Prosecutor of ACC special Judge Court Advocate Abul Kalam Azad said that 13 persons delivered their witness against Abdul Motin Sarkar and the convicted kept his properties hidden and so the two cases, the court sentenced the convicted 13 years, fined Tk. 2, 28, 31,315.
