BGB mam died of chasing smuggler in Fulbari border

A member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on patrol chased a smuggler swimming the River and he may be died of cardiac arrest at Pachchim Balatari border under Fulbari upazila in Kurigram at 8.30pm on Tuesday.

The incident took place near international main pillar no 931 and 932 in the Baromashea River under Naodanga union of the upazila.

The deceased BGB man Mahbub Alam 31 son of Abdul Gafur of village Khalpara in PanchagarhSadarupazila. He has a daughter aged eight months. He served as a soldier at Balarhat Border out Post (BOP) in Fulbariupazila under Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion.

Locals and eyewitnesses said three BGB men on patrol chased an unknown smuggler. Finding no alternative way the smuggler jumped into the Baromashea River with smuggling goods. The soldier Mahbub and soldier Mizanur also jumped into the River to nab the smuggler. When they crossed the River by swam, Mahbub suddenly fell sick. His associate Mizanur was shouting as save, save.

Hearing the sound locals ahead with boat and recovered them. Later with the help of local people BGB members took away him to FulbariUpazila Health complex by Auto Rickshaw where the attending doctorAnowar Hossain declared him dead.

Commanding Officer of Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion Lt.ColonelMofazzal Hossain Akhandoon Wednesday ensured the incident and told that he may be died by cardiac arrest.
