BDRCS, SRC delegates visit RRR project in Gaibandha chars

A team of delegates from Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and Swiss Red Cross (SRC) visited command areas of a project entitled Reinforcing Rural Resilience(RRR)Project on Sunday.

Sources said the project was introduced at different chars of the district in July, 2021. Since then it is being implemented by BDRCS, Gaibandha district unit, aimed to make the people of project command areas adaptive to the climate change and help the affected people increase the resilience ondisaster.

TO oversee the project work, the team of high-level delegates coming from BDRCS,central unit and SRC visited Sadhuarpara char under Horipur Union and Nababganj char under Belka union of Sundarganjupazila in the district on Sunday.

The delegates included KaziShofiqulAzam, secretary general of BDRCS, Md. Mijanur Rahman, director DR & Focal person, BDRCS-SRC partnership, MdJasim Uddin Kabir, senior manager resilience, BDRCS- SRC, Paul Drossue, country representative, SRC, Dhaka, Sanjib Biswas, deputy head of delegation, SRC Dhaka and TuhinSammaddar, manager DRM, SRC.

During the visit, the team also participated in a view exchange meeting held at Nababganj char under Belka union of Sundarganjupazila in the afternoon. Nababganj village disaster management committee organized the meeting in cooperation with RRRProject.

In the meeting, the delegates in their speeches underscored the need for taking early preparedness to reduce the loss of life and properties and minimize the sufferings caused by disasters, which visit the chars here every year.

They also urged the stakeholders of the society to stay beside the disastrous people with positive attitude to lessen their sorrows during the disasters and asked the field level staff of the project to be more serious and more dedicated to provide their services to the community men to help them avoid losses caused by disasters.

BDRCS, district unit secretary MridulMostafiJhantu, unit member MojammelHaqueJhelam, project manager Amal Kumar Promanik, local union parishadchairmen Ibrahim Khaliluuah and Mozharul Islam accompanied the team during their visit.
