With the aid of UNICEF, District Information Office of Bogura arranged an awareness building programme on “Human Papilloma Virus Vaccination (HPV)” and its vaccination for remedy PTI Conference room in Bogura on Wednesday morning.
District Senior Information Officer of Bogura Muhammd Mahfuzar Rahman presided over the programme while Civil Surgeon of Bogura Dr. Md. Shafiul Azam was present as the chief guest in the programme.
Special guests were District Information Officer Md. Hazrat Ali, Superintendent of PTI, Bogura, Afroza Sultana, Medical Officer of Civil Surgeon office Dr. Saazad-ul Haque and others.
The members of Boys Scouts, Girls Guides, Red-Cresent of 12 upazilas of Bogura were present simultaneously in the orientation programme for spreading the messages of HPV vaccination campaign I educational institutions and root-level people of the district.
The Chief Guest and Civil Surgeon (CS) of Bogura Dr. Shafiul Azam said that at least 60 million of women become victims of such life killing cancer and at around 3,42,000 died of the cancer and at least 5,000 women died of the disease in Bangladesh each year.
The HPV prevented the cancer of uterus and one HPV vaccine is enough to prevent such life killing cancer which is studied, safe and effective and the cost of one vaccine is at Tk. 5 thousand, the CS added.
The CS also added that but Belgium-made vaccines have been given free of cost with the aid of United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the online registration is must to get the vaccine and till Tuesday, around 18,600 registrations have already done so far, added the CS.
