Agrani Bank authorities have temporarily suspended three officials, including the branch manager, who were arrested in connection with embezzlement of Tk over 10 crore.
Agrani Bank Pabna region deputy general manager (GM) Rezaul Sharif confirmed this information on Saturday. Earlier, three officials including the branch manager were arrested on Thursday night in connection with embezzlement. The police arrested them that night after a written complaint by the bank authorities.
The sacked bank officials are Kashinathpur Branch manager (Senior Principal Officer) Haroon Bin Salam, senior officer Abu Zafar and cash officer Subrata Chakraborty.
After their arrest, they were sent to court on Friday. Pabna Senior Judicial Magistrate court Judge Anwar Hossain Sagar ordered to send those 3 bank officials to jail.
Court GRO ASI Mahbubur Rahman confirmed that they were sent to jail and said that no one applied for bail on behalf of their family. As a result, the court ordered to send them to the district jail.
There is a rumor in the area that the three officers used to give money to businessmen secretly. The suspended bank officials were trapped for not paying it on time. They even gave Tk lakhs of CC loans to some businessmen.
A person who did not wish to be named said that the arrested bank officials secretly gave lakhs of taka from the money saved in the bank to local land traders without documents or documents. In return they get a commission or share of shares.
Santhia police station officer in charge (OC) Anwar Hossain said that on Thursday, an audit team of 5 members of Agrani Bank came to Kashinathpur branch. They got an average of Tk 10,13,62, 378 from the bank.
In this regard, the concerned officials including the manager of that branch could not give any reply. Agrani Bank Pabna regional branch Deputy General Manager (DGM) Rezaul Sharif filed a written complaint at Santhia police station accusing Kashinathpur Branch Manager Harun Bin Salam, officer Abu Zafar and Officer (Cash) Subrata Chakraborty.
After the complaint, the three officials were arrested.
