A man was allegedly stabbed to death by his son at Haque Bazar Char Jatindra Narayan village under Shimulbari union of Fulbariaupazila in Kurigram district.

The deceased was Akbar Ali (Ekabbor Member) 59, a resident of the Char JotindroNarayon village. He was an ex-member of word no-6 of Shimulbari union council.

Locals and police sources said the incident took place in his house on Saturday morning (April 6). He could not find any food in the kitchen for eating causing he became agitated and at first he stabbed his mother.When his father came ahead to save his mother he was also stabbed seriously and went away leaving them critically injured.

Later, locals rescued them. Although his mother SaheraBanu received treatment locally but Akbar member’s condition was critical. Consequently, he was immediately taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment but he died on the way.

Officer-in-charge of Fulbari Police Station PranKrishnoDebnath told this correspondent that the drug addicted killer Sajedulhas been arrested and sent to jail. A case has lodged against him. The body is being performed autopsy in Rangpur Medical College Hospital till filing the report on Sunday, OC added.
