Different socio-cultural organisations paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur

Awami League (AL) and different socio-cultural organisations today paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait in the capital’s Dhanmondi-32 marking the Independence and National Day.

Since the dawn, leaders and activists of the ruling party and the people of all strata have flooded in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmodi Road-32 here and its adjacent areas as the attendance of the common peoples create a festive mood during the time.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid deep respect to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, also the great architect of independent Bangladesh, by placing a floral wreath at his portrait here this morning.

After laying the wreath, the premier stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the greatest Bangalee of all times. A smartly turned-out army contingent gave an honour guard on the occasion.

Flanked by party leaders, Sheikh Hasina, also the President of Awami League, paid rich tributes to Bangabandhu by placing another wreath at his portrait on behalf of the party. Bangabandhu’s younger daughter and only sister of the Prime Minister Sheikh Rehana was present at that time.

During the time, Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member Amir Hossain Amu, its Presidium Member and Deputy Leader of the House Begum Matia Chowdhury, General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Presidium Members Shahjahan Khan, Quamrul Islam, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, AHM Khairuzzaman Litan and Dr Mostafa Jalal Mahiuddin, Joint General Secretaries Dr Hasan Mahmud, Mahbubul Alam Hanif and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Organising Secretaries Ahmed Hossain and Mirza Azam, Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap and Office Secretary Biplob Barua, among others, were present.

After the departure of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the president of Awami League, leaders of various political, social, cultural and professional bodies started gathering on the premises of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum with processions to pay homage to Bangabandhu since the morning.
