Thrust for adaptation with climate resilient smart agriculture technologies to produce crops

Agri experts in a function here underscored the need for adaptation with the climate resilient smart agri technologies to make crops production in the country continued aimed at achieving sustainable food security of the country.

“Bangladesh has successfully achieved in food production. It has been possible for the contribution of the agri scientists of the country. For innovating their agritechnolpgies, the one crop land has been turned into two crop land and two crop land has been turned into three crop one but a number of farmers are producing crops facing more challenges caused by  climate change and its negative impacts.

So, there is no alternative to adaptation of the   the climate victims with the climate tolerant agri technologies to make food production activity normal in this context, climate smart agriculture (CSA)module may serve as a guiding framework aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture practices in Gaibandha and beyond”, they also said.

They made the comments while they were addressing a daylong workshop on climate smart agriculture (CSA) module validation at the conference room of deputy director of the department of agriculture extension (DAE) at Khamarbari of the town here on Wednesday.

GanaUnnayan Kendra (GUK), a Gaibandha base non-government voluntary organization, arranged the workshop under the scheme of Bangladesh Program to end Modern Slavery funded by Winrock International and US department of States.

The objective of the workshop was to take suggestions and opinions from the agriculturists working in different offices in a bid to  prepare an enriched  CSA module for the climate victims so that they could use it properly and effectively to keep crops production as usual and normal.

DD of DAE KrishibidKhorshedAlamSarker addressed the function as the chief guest while ADD (Horticulture) Rostam Ali presided over the workshop.

Chief instructor of Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) here NasrinNaheed, senior Scientific offier of BARI here Jahangir Alam, Sadullapurupazila agriculture officer MatiulAlam, regional coordinator of Winrock International Mizanur Rahman addressed the workshop among others.

Md Arfan Mondol, Project manager, Augrojatra project, of GanaUnnayan Kendra (GUK) in his speeches thanked all participants for presenting their valuable opinions which play significant role to prepare the CSA module well for the climate victims of the district.

More than 20 farmers who are producing crops facing negative impacts of climate change participated in the workshop.
