The bustling Pabna book fair is like the pulse of life the 10th day of Ekushey Book Fair in Pabna was crowded on Saturday. The sun has been shining since morning. The traffic of book lovers was increasing.
The beginning was saying that the fair will be crowded today. People are increasing day by day. Pabna book fair premises became crowded with people of different ages including women, children and old people.
Along with buying and selling of books in the fair, book discussions and cultural events are going on. As a result, the district town dwellers had a good holiday. On the other hand, good sales made the book dealers smile.
According to the organisers, there are 35 stalls of different publishers and book sellers in the fair, including Prathama Prakashana of Dhaka, Mahayasi Prakashana of Pabna, Pathak Adda, Pathshala and Bikini Mat. The fairground is open for book lovers every day from 11 am to 10 pm.
Afternoon visit the fair premises, the whole fair premises from the main gate is full of people. Some are buying books, some are chatting. Many are enjoying the cultural program by sitting in front of the fair stage.
Teacher Golam Hasnain was looking for books from stall to stall pushing the crowd. He said, ‘Though crowded with people, life is filling up. People’s love for books seems to be increasing.’ The new book of the district town poet Chhifat Rahman Somam has arrived at the fair. Standing at a stall, he was signing autographs.
Chifat Rahman told that the crowd is telling that the book fair is a festival of life. People are buying books, reading books. Seeing this scene brings life.
Leo Shaon, stall manager of Prothama Prakashani, said that more new books have arrived at the fair this time. So, sales are good. More people visit fairs on holidays than on other days. Sales are increasing.
On this day of Mother Language Day, most of the people came to the fair wearing Fatwa, Punjabi and sarees. Many had alphabet prints on their clothes. The new stalls were also decorated in alphabets. Many of the arrivals were again painting martyr minar and alphabet on their hands and faces with mobile painters.
20 books were unveiled at the fair. The authors expressed their feelings after the unveiling in a joyful atmosphere.
Those whose book covers were unveiled are former IGP Shafiqul Islam, freedom fighter Abul Kalam Azad, Dr. Mokhles Mukul, teacher Adyanath Ghosh, Asadur Rahman, Rita Roy, Dr. Nirmal Bera, Mangal Prasad Maiti, Rahima Khatun, Kohinur Begum Shefali, Madhusudhan Majumder, Manik Majumder, Pulak Roy, Tarek Khan, Habibur Rahman, Dr. Shatabdi Ghosh, Hamida Banu Moushumi and Saleha Khatun.
Writers and poets say that studying nature, studying life, refining the mind and free thinking are very necessary for every writer. A writer must possess many liberal and humanitarian values. As good as his book is in the eyes of the reader; Also, he is actually a good person.
Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) teacher Dr. Md. Habibullah and advocate Moshfeka Jahan Kanika conducted the event.
After the unveiling and discussion, the artists of Sangeet Bidhybeethi performed music. Also, the artists of Lalita Kala Kendra Ifa performed dance under the direction of Sabia Sultana Sonia. The music performance by the music artists of Sangeet Bidhybithi Beethi and the dance performance by the artists of Lalita Kala Kendra Ifa were mesmerizing. A large number of spectators enjoyed the event.
