Cold wave and dense fog paralyzed normal life in Kurigram district. Dense fog are being covered whole the night up to next morning and sometimes it fall like drops. The day laborers and low income generating groups are being suffered badly. The vehicles are seen in the roads switching head lights in day violating the dense fog.

Kurigram Agricultural weather official sources said the lowest temperature was recorded at 14.8 degree Celsius in the morning on Monday. A good number of poor and marginal farmers are have been suffering from the northern Himalayan cold wave for the last three days. The poor and ultra-poor people of char, island char and River side are the worst sufferers due to lack of warm clothes. The farmers are going to their land for agricultural activities in spite of dense fog.

Belal Hossain a boatman of Jatrapurghat under Kurigramsadarupazila and Abdur Rahman a boatman of Noonkhawaghat told that we are facing trouble to drive the boat due to dense fog. We don’t go to straight way and its takes more times to go to destination in the disrupted foggy weather. The same phenomenon is prevailing in both day and night.

Johurul Islam, an inhabitant of Porar char under Jatrapur union told that cold and dense fog and cold wave has been prevailing in the char areas for the last three days and we are afraid with our babies and old men.

Officer-in-charge of Rajarhat Agricultural weather office Subal Chandra Sarkar said the temperature will be decreased day by day.A biting cold wave may be swept over this region after November 20.

On the other hand,the new warm cloth traders are going good business. They are selling china and local made jackets, sweaters, mufflers and ladies cardigans in their shops. But the poor people are rushing towards second hand markets to buy warm clothes for their dear and near one. Several traders of Nasar Uddin second hand cloth market and Judge court market told that the price in wholesale market has been increased causing the price in retail market have also been increased.
