Water level of Rivers increasing in Kurigram

Water level of all the 16 Rivers including the Dharla,Teesta,Brahmaputra and Dudkumer which are flowing through the Kurigram district are increasing due to incessant rainfall and onrush of water from upstream inundating RopaAman paddy plants in low lying areas.

Kurigram Water Development official sources said water level of the Teesta River was flowing 30cm above danger mark in Kaunia point at 9.00am and it is decreased and was flowing 10cm above danger mark at 12.00 pm on Thursdayand other Rivers are flowing below their danged levels.

Chairman of Gharealdanga union parishad under Rajarhatupazila Abdul KuddusPramanik said the Teesta River is now full of water with heavy current and River side people are in fear of flood and erosion.

Member of Gharealdanga UP Mamunur Rashid said water level of the Teesta River is increasing which is also entering into some River side houses.

Officer-in-charge of Rajarhat Agriculture Weather Office Subal Chandra Sarkar said 60mm rainfall has been recorded in Kurigram in the last 24 hours.The weather may be developed on Friday.
