The traditional boat race of the rural areas after 24 hours was held by the side of the Dharla River bank in Kurigram. Men, women and children from distance paces in both banks of the River turned as human sea. The final game was held near the Dharla Bridge at around 5 pm on Friday (September 29).A buffalo was given as the first of the game where a cow as second prize and a refrigerator as the third prize.

A total of 22 boats have been participated in the boat race competition. Of them the boat named “71 erShainik” of Andharirjar areas under Bhurungamariupazila was placed as first, the “Ural chandi” of Sulkur bazar under Pachgachi union in Sadarupazila as second.

The boats from inter district as well as other district have been participated in the game during 11 days. The participated boat’s name are attractive as Satvaienterprize,Vaivaienterprize,UralChandi,Bangla bazar Enterprise ,Dash Bandhu Mama vagney, Dasher Dowa, GaziShainik etc.

The eminent lawyer and principal of KurigramLar College, advocate Abraham Lincoln PP,president of Kurigram district unit of Chattra League Saddam Hossain were present there among others.

The president of organizing committee Bhaju said we are expecting to play the traditional boat race here every year.
